Ethnima is a family-run consulting and business services company built on the values of collaboration, resilience, and growth. Even our name reflects our family—Eth (from our son Ethan), Ni (Nic), and Ma (from Gemma).
Our logo, the Penrose triangle, symbolizes the strength and balance that comes from three interconnected elements. Its infinite form represents the limitless growth potential of small businesses and the enduring partnerships we build with our clients.
We are passionate about supporting small businesses and sole proprietors, while also working with larger organizations. Ethnima provides consulting services alongside hands-on administrative and operational support, allowing our clients to focus on what they do best while reclaiming valuable time.
Gemma grew up in Surrey, England many years of expertise and management in the animal care and training industry and running of a large, premier equine boarding and dressage business and multiple canine training businesses. Sole responsibilities for running multiple successful small businesses including managing P&L, human resources, sales and all aspects of advertising, growth and promotion. A seasoned professional with over twelve years of experience organizing and running events and competitions across multiple industries, including running the premier equine boarding business (Happenstance Barn) plus many canine training businesses.
Over the years, Gemma has cultivated a strong skill set in organization and administration, with a focus on supporting business growth through strategic advertising and streamlined operations. Her approach combines efficiency, creativity, and a genuine commitment to helping clients succeed.
In her downtime, Gemma enjoys riding and advancing her knowledge of dressage, along with hiking and spending quality time with her dogs and family.
Nic leads the consulting side of Ethnima. Originally from South Africa, he moved to England in the early 2000s, where he met Gemma, and together they built both their family and careers. His professional background includes leading projects and managing operations for global companies across multiple industries.
What was initially intended to be a temporary move brought the family to Denver, Colorado—however, the beauty of the state and its community quickly made it home.
Nic specializes in helping businesses optimize resources, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. Outside of work, he enjoys flying, playing golf (when the weather allows), snowboarding, and spending time hiking and traveling with his family—including their two pomskies, Pilot and Jellytot.
Ethan, who is graduating from VALE high school, has grown up around both business and animal care and plans to pursue a future in mental health care. He shares a love of snowboarding with Nic and is rarely far from his cat, TicTac.
